I saw a picture yrs ago of two fighters at an old gas station in i think Idaho. He just lived there and wouldn't sell. I think he might have died. The Walter Saplata type. Any info?

That would be the ones i think. Showed him sitting in a chair in front of them and the station. He had a go to hell look on his face. thanks

If your talking P-51 N8677E now Morman mustang and FM-2 it's Don Novas of Blackfoot, ID. He had a few others inc a T-33.
Jack Erickson has the FM-2.

no clue but he's the only guy I know of in ID who has a 51 and a FM-2.

Don Novis had the FM2, P-51(one of the last in civilian colors), T-6 and a couple of Beech 18s. He had a crop spraying service in Blackfoot. In the early 80s the FM2 sat in a rickety hanger with the T-6 and a couple of Cubs. It was a really stock clean airplane grounded with a blown engine. He had many offers on the airplane (one from my uncle) and refused to sell. In 83 we had a severe winter and the roof collapsed on the Wildcat and Texan doing severe damage to both airplanes. He sold the Wildcat to Erikson in the late 80s.
He owned and flew the Mustang for over 30 years. It never got very good maintanance and was always a little ratty looking. He did fly one of the nicest aerobatic acts in that airplane though keeping it at low power settings because he couldn't push the engine too hard. i would rate his act right up there just below Hoover. When he died the mustang went to Utah and got a much needed overhaul and then was sold to a guy in Montana. Bob Hoff in Idaho Falls has one of the Beeches and again it was a very original airplane.

Forgot about the T-33. It is in Bountiful Utah and is a flyer.
