Yes, I guess he could look at the dent he made with his fist and gain a good idea of the thickness of the metal from that

When I was a docent at the Air Zoo, we had an F-86 on display with the canopy open and a boarding ladder hanging on the side. I watched one day as a visitor blithely stepped over the barriers, and climbed up the ladder. I politely chased him off, and he indignantly said he "just wanted to look inside."

The nose looks great!! Did anyone say that yet? You do have a lot to be proud of!! Your commitment to this project is worthy of Knighthood! I'll phone the Queen in the morning. Stop eating fruit. Your diet is not meant for that! The Runway, Dude, you'll be fine.

Hey Gary! One of the great things about working nights... is that when I can sneak a peak at the board, I start looking around 0300hrs, cause I know you will generally be posting the first new update of the day.... which caps off my night in the right way........ Alan

Well everyone, take a good look at the nose while you can. Because after this weekend, the noseart will be on it and it will be covered up until the unveiling. ...........

Not that there's anything wrong with the nose art we're putting on Ol' 927, but I personally wish they'd let me just leave the airplane like it is now.....like it's supposed to be. But nonetheless, it'll still be okay, I reckon.

Niiiicccccce! She's really starting to look like a jin-you-wine bomber!

I'm with you, Gary..I think the paint job would be fine as-is, but I understand how a nose art is a necessary evil as a "hook" to bring in the tourists (my vote would have been for the big-a$$ "Neutrality Flag.")

BTW, this is in no way meant to be critical, but I'm curious about the white "U.S. Army" under the wings. I've never seen it painted on a black-bellied aircraft. But then again, I'm not sure what (if any) standards there were for U.S. markings over British camo.

Cheers!

Steve

it is amazing what a differance a lick of paint can make. she is realy coming back together. gary it must be a weight of your mind having the nose back on and ready for the air.

in regards to the nose art, if the artist is reading this, please please if "?lil?" is getting a girl on the nose make it a 40's style fuller figured woman not one of the insectile things that we see all through the media now. (it's just my personal taste realy but i'll use the excuse that it is more period correct :) )

all the best gary et al.

henry.

btw if anyone has a mass of spare frequent flyer points (or can line up a jump seat ride etc) i've got plenty of time and the desire to work on "lil" but not the $$$ for an airline ticket half way across the world.
well it's worth a try...

No offense taken. Here is an excerpt from one of the many references I've used to work on this project........

Hope that helps,

I've got five bucks, who else is in for the "Gary needs a pith helmet" fund..... 8)

Now THAT would be a classic look while on the show circuit.

Henry brings up a critically important point here. Nose art girl (if there's to be one) must look adequately nourished/enhanced.
