Prolly not. That guy has lighter colored hair and a blond mustache, but ya never know

Yep, that was me. The light colored hair might be from the way the sunlight was shining on the increasingly gray hairs that I've developed over the years. The "mustache" is (I think) the headset microphone. Since I typically fly with the Flight Engineer's escape hatch out, I usually have a padded "microphone muffler" on it to keep the wind noise to a minimum.

The rough terrain was certainly an issue at Charlotte, as well as many other places. Often times people don't realize how big and heavy that B-29 is when they book us for a tour stop, along with how low the propeller blades are to the ground. You can't tell it from that picture, but if I recall, I had also shut down the outboard engines and "X'd" the props so that they wouldn't hit any taxi lights or signs.

Hi Gary,
You left off the the main reason for shutting down the outboards when pulling onto our ramp here -- the fence and sliding gate !! It's REAL tight with the wing tips going over the fence when the plane comes thru.
Hopefully when we get our new hangar and things are moved around a bigger gate will be included (funding, funding, funding).
Fifi looks great in the pictures but even better if you get to fly in her!
Thanks for all of the hard work Gary !!!! :D

Pretty sure it's the only way you can see chicks on the beach from the FE seat.

Wow, all of you are right! I indeed take that hatch out so that I can stick my head out the window while we fly. I also bark at other airplanes as we go by them.

It's funny you mention parts of my body flapping in the breeze though. There is a story about me in that F.E. position (well, at least most of me  ) on our way back from Chatanooga to Midland back in 2004 that I'll have to tell y'all sometime.....perhaps it would be better if told in person though, if I'm reminded of it. :)
