Pardon me if this has already been discussed, but I just saw an Arron Tippin Country Music video on TV and there was a T-28 in the background in a hanger with some fly-by footage included. Any idea on whose T-28 it was?

Arron Tippin's I think ? He is a pilot with a few planes.

I think it is his. He was a duster pilot (excuse me, "aerial application specialist") before making it in Nashville.

Is it true that Nascar truck racing has adopted the T-28 as their official mascot? The devil made me say that. There was a magazine article about Tippen, he is a pilot, has a Stearman, etc.

I have met Aaron and he didn't mention crop dusting although he did mention being a corporate pilot and was trying to become an airline pilot before he hit it in Nashville. His father was a Corsair pilot in WWII. His father was a crop duster and an instructor later on in life and taught Aaron how to fly. He has a Stearman, Piper Cub and a few others.

I think Aaron flew corporate for Stevens Aviation in S.C..

Years ago I did watch some NASCAR, but I think my problem was I can’t sit in front of the TV for a long time. That’s the same reason I’ve only seen two NHL games this season.

I seem to remember an interview on the radio with him where he said to pay the bills he started dusting at 15, before he had his "guvment" license. May have said it just to help sell records! Many of the yokels where I grew up in Mississippi viewed cropdusters as these death-dying, hard-livin, hard-luvin, mythical creatures. Or, at least that's the impression I had as a kid.

He was in the next room getting either his A or P when I was in Nashville in 2000 getting my IA.

He had a bunch of airplanes that he had been working on for a long time and figured he was ready.

The instructor asked if anybody in the class was a Country Music fan. (which I am definitely not)
She mentioned his name, and I had never heard of him before. I went back to the hotel that night and looked up who he was so I could see which one he was at break the next day. That was right about the time that "Kiss this" was a hit, must have made a few bucks and was sinking it back into aviation.

I think Aaron had a blue T-28A he sold a year or two ago. He bought it just because his dad liked it and was sick at the time. His father has since passed away. The T-28A in the video, is for sale at Bill Austin's place. It was owned by Bill Pratt of Nashville and traded last Fall 05 for a T-28D that was damaged in a tornado last Spring.
It was owned by about 25 years by Dr. Dick Dieter in South Bend, Indiana and still has the same basic paint it wore as "Jeannie". It's currently for sale for $180,000.

The Story I've heard about Tippin is that he came to Nashville as an AMerican Eagle pilot in the 1980's trying to break into country music. I've seen him doing fabric work on a Travelair replica he owned and kept in Smithville. Anyway, He supposed to be an ATP rated pilot and A&P and grew up working around his father's FBO in North Carolina.

In my question I was going to mention it looked like Dick Dieter's old
paint job, but I wasn't sure since most of what you see is the front of the cowl.

In one of his other recent videos, he is flying the Stearman. There is fly-by footage and in cockpit footage. Pretty cool stuff.

Buffet has a gorgeous silver Stearman that was in one of his videos as well.
