Uhhhh...you have my attention!!

Do you have any more information on this and a point of contact? I know a couple of people that are restoring ball turrets down under so I have a feeling these parts (if in fact are available) might get snatched up quickly.

good news i got a check on the lead

indeed a ball turret exisit suppsoely brand new hanging from a dsiplay...

bad news the seller wouldnt discuss it and says not for sale..

but then again whats a ball turret worth nowdays for a desperate bunch of warbirders? $10,000US? $50,000US? if money talks maybe the owner might indeed sell?

According to the owner of the bar in Greeley where there was a ball turret hanging from the ceiling in part of a fuselage, $60,000. That's what he told me he sold the turret for.

 Was this for the ball turret and the fuselage section combined? I know they went to two different people but $60,000 sounds a bit high even for a ball turret. But then again...if someone's willing to pay that amount of $$$ the sky's the limit! From what I've seen in the past few years a complete and restored ball turret runs about $35,000...that includes all the internal components and trunnion support structure.

I talked with a gentleman that works with the group that purchased the fuselage assembly from the bar in Greeley. I guess they were a bit upset and frustrated that the Urbana guys got it first and snagged the turret. According to him the fuselage was stripped pretty clean by the time they purchased it. So that dollar figure might include some additional internal items from the fuselage (just an assumption).

From what the guy told me their group's intention is to restore the fuselage to include the cockpit and use it as a traveling educational display for airshows, schools, vet functions, etc.

My understanding was $60K for just the turret. The fuselage was bought by the California group.

 WOW!!! ...looks like they've gone way up in price over the past several years.

Speaking of the Urbana project...does anybody know if the Schiffer boys own the project or Tom Reilly? I've heard that the Schiffer's purchased the project from Tom and I've also heard that Tom still owns it. Anybody know which one is correct?
