Painted Art Cut from Bomber....Fake???

Ebay won't do anything about the seller so I took the liberty of informing the 2 people that bid on the panels that they are fakes. I contacted the seller and informed her that these were fakes as well. She wanted to know how I knew that. :roll:

Jpeters- if you told her how you know they are fakes, we can all watch and wait to see if here in a couple of months she reposts new "old" nose art with her mistakes corrected...

Well for $30 something bucks I think they are getting their moneys worth. They are obviously fake, shoe polish aging and all, but it is the duty of they buyer to not be easily duped.

Looks like the top bidder just retracted his bid. It's now down to just over $15.00. :lol:

That's sure not much considering how much time the scammer put into these two pieces...serves him right.

My impression is that the seller is just as clueless as the bidder. I have seen many eBay auctions where people had no idea what they were selling. I have actually got some great things for dirt cheap because an item was improperly described or in the wrong category.

Looking at how mush the seller has sold in the past and how good their rating is and the quality of the other stuff they are selling is im thinking that they are honest enough they have also warned bidders that there are doubts about these panels so i say good luck to them fake or not they look pretty good

whos to know maybe they were painted after the war by one of the guys who did paint the real things during the war!

most people wouldnt be able to afford the real thing id certainly bid for these except the postage to england wouldnt be pretty!

According to Alcoa's website, 2024 aluminum was introduced in 1931. Didn't get to see the auction, it has been removed.

If the panels were from WW2, they would not be marked
"2024-T3"
they'd be marked
"24SRT" or "24ST"

Yes like the person that helped themselves to my dead uncle's estate thanks to the ineptness of my uncle's brothers and placed a very personal plaque of his from his CAF days on Ebay. It was rescued by a WIXer, who contacted me and then sent it back to us here in California. We imbursed him for his expenses. I am still very angry and bitter and upset at the way the whole thing (and this plaque is just the tip of the iceberg) went down. All of the stuff could have been handled by the province, and the person who offered to take care of it all went crazy in the end with various insane demands and accusations. I guess it all just got to be too much for him, but he's the one who volunteered! The Wixer is a hero. Thank you again!
