ITT built Focke-Wulfs? Hey, let's call them and see if they still have the plans and jigs!

Seriously, this doesn't look like serious history. If these are excerpts, where are all the citations to sources? I have no doubt that many American companies kept trading with Germany right up until it became illegal to do so, and a few may have kept it up in a small way, but basically this rings of conspiracy silliness.

August,

Have you read the book?

Your other postings to date, have seemed to me well thought and researched and although there are some points of view that I do not share with you, I have been given food for thought from your writings.

Lack of sources from citations would not necessarily mean that what the guy writes is incorrect or not true, right?

It just means sloppy researching, poor writing, probably by someone who has not hat the benefit$ of a high education, or someone who -all is possible- loves conspiracy theories, or someone who copied his data from someone else; after all this is the internet and most anything goes.

The book though, is real. I began to read it many years ago, but was so thoroughly pi**ed off with it, that I had to leave it aside.

Please read the book, and then comment. I would like very much to read your opinion, but after you have read the book.

Yes, the link points to an evidently biased website; that's all I could find doing a google search earlier (note the time marks on my two postings above).

So.... let me know when you have read the book [I did not finish it].

Saludos,

Tulio

Fair enough Tulio. I will track down a copy and read it. Might take a couple weeks though as the local libraries that have copies are a little out of my way.

I thought some of you might like to see three of the items on the list!
The pictures were taken at Reading last June.

I doubt there are many places that you can get a shot of a C-47, Jeep and Higgins Boat all in one frame.
It was pretty unique, even if the LCVP was on a flat bed.
Blue skies,
Jerry

It's owned by some guy who I think is from PA, but I also believe that the LCVP is part new fabrication and part original.
It was a great display of those three together.

Cool.

Seriously, I would like to read your take on this. It may even force me to go back and finish reading it.

Spkeaing of Higgins boats, probably 10 years ago, maybe longer, there was a PT-Boat (I don't know if it was a Higgins, an ELCO or what) being restored on the grounds of the Battleship Texas memorial in Texas.

Anyone knows what happened with it? Where is it? They ran on Allisons, correct?

Saludos,

Simple answer

The British !

The war started in 1939!

If it wasnt for us brits germany would have had total control of europe there would have been no convoys to russia or hope of a second front leaving them alone against the whole might of the german forces

America would have been alone !

darn right, this doesn't answer the original questioned posted of what IKe said, but the first time Hitler was ever stopped and the Luftwaffe brought at least to a tie was the Battle of Britain. The limeys had help from all over the free world, and thank God they had a leader like Winston Churchill. As some one also said Hitler did his part with stupidity like invading Russia with winter coming, also causing many Jewish intellectuals to flee to England and US and to a large extent these were the inventers of the Bomb. That Russian winter was the worst one in 50 years, maybe there was a divine hand at work.

Speaking of Higgins himself, I had the pleasure last summer of flying over the Higgins memorial dedication ceremony in Columbus, NE. Higgins was from there and they set up a really nice memorial in a park there for him. We flew a 14 ship formation over the top during the dedication, i think they had helicopters as well. Of course, the 14 ship was of Yaks and Nanchangs... but they were allies in WWII so its all good.
