Howdy!
I just got the EAA Warbird Squadron 7 newsletter in the mail and there is a Fly in at the Plum Island Airfield in Newburyport, MA on Oct 2/3

Last year the folks at plum island did a super job with their fly in. This year promises to be even better. There will be an AN-2, hopefully a DC-3, a Cheyenne 400, a couple of Stearmans, and several RC clubs will come over to do a demonstration. Undoubtedly, there will be a couple of L-17s on hand for formation flight. On top of it all, there will be plenty of food, so come on down to plum island!



Last year the little shindig was alot of fun, Shannon and I went up with the Navion boys for a few formation passes, there was a small aerobatic show, and the food was really good.
The airport has become one of our favorite hang outs, the porch is really comfy on a hot day (even though we wont have any more), and the runway is busy on any weekend afternoon

Hello All,
What a wonderful day for a fly in at our favorite little hang out!
We stopped in for a little while on saturday but the weather wasn't conducive to aviating, Sunday was a whole different story.

We arrived at around 9:00AM and there was little action for the first couple of hours but then everybody seemed to wake up. The Boys from Beverly arrived in the O-2 and the Aztec, there were a few rag wing airplanes, a few aerobatic airplanes, several L-17s, a couple of trikes and an ultralight, all in all there were about 25 airplanes in to this little 2300 foot strip to hang out and promote aviation and the airport.
The highlights of the afternoon were the arrival of the AN-2 from Laconia, NH, and the unreal fly-bys by Dan McCue in the gray L-39. I'm not sure how fast those passes down the runway were, but being that close to the runway it was a sound I have never heard before.

The EAA Warbird Sq.7 meeting at the airport happened around 2:00PM with 6 Sq. Members in attendance and 3 member airplanes. there were a couple of other events including military day at Rhinebeck that were attended by Sq members and other mechanical issues in the Navion clan

The Great white father snuck in, tied up the O-2 and went off to work.
We didnt even talk to him, Ray flew him back in the Aztruck

And BTW, He is the Fed (Kinda)

That name sounds familiar, any idea what the ID of that gray L-39 is?

Unfortunately not,
I saw the airplane parked on the ramp at Rochester a few weeks ago during the airshow, Dan was flying the Collings Corsair and not the L-39,
the airplane has USN gray markings. Somebody that was there must have some info?
I also heard a rumor that he sold the black airplane?

He just did 3 passes and a loop yesterday afternoon and went back to Rochester as a favor to his pal Deacon (a regular on the porch @ 2B2)
The runway there is shortened to 2300 ft due to a land dispute with a former airport operator who has parked a few RV's and an excavator on "HIS" end of the runway, and is way too short for the albatross now
