I would presume it was a reference to NX611 'Just Jane' here in the UK at the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre.

Maybe Mr. Somers could be interested in helping out a heavy bomber base museum and put a B-17 on display in our restored B-29 hangar!? I mean just until we have a B-17 hangar restoration complete. . . .

too much drama in organizations. I do contract work for several non-profit businesses. it's always the same thing, everyone is bashing each other behind their backs, everyone wants it their way, several are riding a high horse, and good ideas to better the organization is heard by deaf ears.

I am currently trying to offer to help mow the lawn for an air museum, and they aren't interested, yet they say they need help with mowing. And obviously 5 different members want it mowed their way. If you can't work out the yard work, you have no business taking care of airplanes or a museum!

Yes, as Firebird previously answered, I was referring to Just Jane. It's a very well known UK project where a well regarded museum is restoring its longtime display/taxi Lancaster to flight.

I believe they'll sell rides, so being the only Lanc to offer flights in the UK, they should keep busy.

Not sure them selling rides has been okayed or even discussed with the CAA yet. They currently give taxi rides while it is currently under restoration.

Thanks for the Jane info. Went on their site and read further. Too bad the one in BC was never going to fly , media hype.

As said, they currently sell taxi rides and have done for a while to help raise funds for the return to the air, but I seriously doubt the UK CAA will ever allow flight rides once it is airworthy.

Since this thread is already well adrift How did it work with the CAA when the CWH Lancaster did rides on its UK tour 10 years ago? Did they have any say in a Canadian registered aircraft offering rides?

I'm just curious why you think that? From talks to my contemporaries in the U.K., it seems like the CAA is less stringent than the FAA here in the U.S. when it comes to setting up a program to sell rides. One example - selling rides in a Buchon is expressly prohibited in the U.S and will never be allowed, yet you can legally buy a ride in one in the U.K.

It's been mentioned many times by Andrew Panton that "Just Jane" is being restored with passenger flights in mind. The CAA know this and have had discussions with the team. The UK CAA has approved rides in multi engine ex-military types already.
