P-47 s/n 42-25068 returning to the U.S.?

Those scenes were filmed at Duxford last summer, which brought together three airworthy Spits and one static.

7 Mustangs... TF-51D "Bum Steer", P-51D "Double Trouble Two", P-51D "February", P-51K "Fragile but Agile", P-51C "Princess Elizabeth", their A-36 (one of two flying), and the F-6K/P-51K "Frenesi" (awaiting completion). Also pretty incredible when you consider the Spitfires - a Spitfire I, Spitfire Mk.1a, Spitfire Mk.V, Spitfire Mk.IX, and a Spitfire Mk.XIV.

That would work just fine for me Brandon! The have had 4-5 Jugs on at least two previous occassions if memory serves.

The G-model Thunderbolts were deemed unfit for combat and re-designated as TP-47Gs by the AAF when sent to the Training Command during WWII. Not to be confused with the two seat version....

Glad to see 25068 coming back to the states....it was my very first warbird ride back in 1985....

What made this model of P-47 "unfit" for combat?

Curtiss built the G's to the C spec current when the contract was cut, missing all of the continuing improvements of the D series

For any of you who have'nt seen it yet, there are some great pics of 'Snafu' and the Chino based Razorback 'Spirit of Atlantic City, NJ' on Facebook!! They are hangar photos, but so cool to see two Razorbacks together, and both airworthy examples.....now the next thing we need is the two of them together in the air, and there is speculation that that will happen at the Chino airshow 2014 in May!!

Not a great shot, but they had five together in 2005.
