It would be neat if there was a P-51B painted up as Shangri-La. I think there was one years ago (1980's?) thaat had the paint scheme but it has since been repainted as something else. To me, Shanrgri-la is one of the most iconic P-51 paint schemes.
The P-51C N51PR restored by Pete Regina in '81 was painted as Shangri-La, it's now 'Princess Elizabeth' with Dan Friedkin.
https://www.mustangsmustangs.com/p-51/s ... l/43-25147IIRC, that was the first razorback Mustang in the warbird world since the late 40s-early '50s, and as such received a lot of attention.
I was told by a source in the NMUSAF that he wanted to trade it to the museum, but his asking price was too high.
