Yeah, and that year was the end of the NWM and the Gennie show at the grass strip until the recent revival by 1941 HAG. IIRC making the show more broad for the general public by bringing in the teams was one of the reasons behind the split and the departure from Geneseo.

Hopefully the only thing there will be more of at Gennie in the future is warbirds.

Before we go putting the cart in front of the horse about how the Blue Angels will affect thunder this year, I would like to point out that niether the Blue Angels site or the Thunder Over Michigan Page have been updated to show that the team will be at Thunder. The Blue Angels typically post thier yearly schedule in January. I don't wanna rain on anyone's parade or step on any toes, just figured that before things turned into a "Thunder will suck / Thunder will rule" match, I'd point that out.

For the record; I have absolutely no idea if they've been scheduled or not, they very well could be. I tend to be extremely far out of the loop on things like that.

January ? I believe all of the teams usually announce their schedule at ICAS which started Tuesday. There can be some minor tweaking after that but those schedules are pretty set.

Go to www.schultzairshows.com and click on demo schedules. It shows the Blue Angels in Ypsilanti, MI on July 7-8. Schultz Air Shows themselves confirmed the event as they are assisting with the military aspect of the show. YAM will handle the warbird aspect of the show.

Demo schedules were announced on Tuesday.

I saw it there, just haven't seen it anywhere else. I was a bit concerned, since schultz seems to handle lots of different demo teams. I didn't want to see a tempest in a teapot over someone's typo.

Wonder why the Blue Angels haven't updated their site then? They're still showing their 2006 schedule.

The guy that posts on their site as well as the guy who handles the TAC Demo site for the NAVY is at ICAS. The Blues, TBirds and Snowbirds pass out their schedules at the beginning of the convention every year. It is usually a big announcement as the airshows who have applied are waiting to see if they are selected. If you do or don't get a team has a great deal to do with how you spend the rest of your time at ICAS building your show lineup.

Interesting. Great news if we've got them then. It'll definitly get a huge draw from the casual airshow crowd, and that's not a bad thing.

Blue Angels Announce 2007 Show Schedule
The Navy Flight Demonstration
Squadron, the Blue Angels, announced their schedule for the 2007
show season. Following winter training, the team will begin its
61st season at Naval Air Facility El Centro, Calif., March 10,
2007. It will conclude Nov. 10 at Naval Air Station Pensacola,
Fla.

The Blue Angels are scheduled to perform 66 demonstrations at 35
air show sites throughout the United States, as they celebrate 20
years of flying the Boeing F/A-18 Hornet.

Demonstration sites are selected in support of the objectives of
the U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps and the Department of Defense.
Public performances greatly assist Navy and Marine Corps recruiting
and retention goals, enhance esprit de corps among uniformed men
and women, and demonstrate the professional skills and capabilities
of the armed forces to bolster pride in the American public.

"The Blue Angels are fired up and ready for a safe and
exhilarating show season," said Cmdr. Kevin Mannix, Blue
Angels flight leader and commanding officer. "While we wanted
to perform at every air show site, we have a limited number of
available performance dates each season. Every venue that requested
to host the Blue Angels received the Navy's utmost
consideration."

Ah,...yes, the old chicken or the egg thing. To buy a motor you gotta have money, in order to make money ya gotta fly, in order to fly you have to have an engine. Vicious circle. Been there, done that. :?
