Don, I'll do some digging but I believe there is ONE other N out there with the Speed Ring.
From what I was told, that the Navy took them off because it only made the N 3 mph faster at cruise and reduced the fwd visibility.
I do know that the early -1's had them on it.
Don, sounds like you need to put your butt back in another N.

One other sidelight to 1120 was it didn't have a starter or generator although it did have a spot for a battery to run the lights for night flight. It always drew a crowd at airshows when we pulled the handcrank out and wound up the inertia starter.
Also another reason there are no cowls around was that most of them were discarded by the mechanics as they were a pain to get on and off. Don

Don, ours has no battery or generator either. So I have a question for you. Does 1120 have a working spark advance??? We can never get ours to start off the inertia. Always by hand.
