Undoubtedly a new low in WIX photographic history:
Note the staples I used to make a "panoramic" photo. Apologies also for the thumb tack holes where I had this on my bulletin board of dreams for many years.

It appears to be a Hellcat, as for the who and when, I have no idea.

Since Brandon is a Chino kid, I'm going to say that is Bob Pond's Hellcat when it was under restoration by Fighter Rebuilders. The metal on her looks great. Definately worthy of the board of dreams.

I agree with the Chino thing, but I'll cast my vote in favor of N100TF being rebuilt in the late 80s.

Is it still at Chino? I don't remember if it flew during the 2006 show either but I assume it must have been flown to the show as it is normally based in Palm Springs.

Not too many Hellcats flying around. The last I was lucky enough to see was the one that is now static in Kalamazoo.

You need to make a trip to Chino Pat, there were three Hellcats participating in the 2006 airshow with another on display in the Yanks museum not too far down the ramp!

You're right, I do need to make that trip. As a Long Island guy, I have an affection for the Hellcat and the Thunderbolt. My father was a WWII veteran who grew up in Farmingdale NY, in a house that was about a mile from the Bethpage Grumman plant to the west, and the Republic plant a mile to the east. Imagine the air traffic during the war years!
