Thank you very much for the updates Tim!
Long live the WIX!

Unfortunately, Tanker 97 went for 75K.
Thte KC-97G went for 55K.

We were bidding on T-97, went for more than we could bid.

I hope someone donates it to us!

P2V's for 5-6k? sounds like scrap to me... :(

Wed Aug 23, 2006 3:37 pm

Wonder how many of them did go to scrappers... With aluminum trading at 75 cents a pound a lot of those big birds went for less than scrap value. And what of all the spare engine parts? God I can't think about it after hearing about the Blakey auction.

Both of those P-2's are complete airplanes, at least in the pictures I saw of them. When I was in Greybull in July they complete then, but who knows.

No Scrappers, No Scrappers, No Scrappers, AHHHHHHHHHHHH hell who am kidding? I have a knot in stomach just thinking about it.

I suppose that those two P2V's went to the scrappers

If they were anywhere near flyable, that seems like an absurdly low price. Those Neptunes had engines hanging on them didn't they?

I sure would have loved to have one of those C-119's or P-2V's down here at my airport.

What about the Privateers?

Wed Aug 23, 2006 6:46 pm

WOW!! What a selection of R-2600's, R-2800's, R-3350's, R-4360's as well as huge numbers of propellers and other parts. I sure hope that the items I just mentioned, went to some warbird owner groups so we can keep more planes airworthy!

Wed Aug 23, 2006 7:03 pm

The Privateers were skipped. Complete R-2600-29A overhauled with carb and records went for $13500, no carb $9500, brand new R-2600-35 $1400, new overhaul 3350's with records $8000 to $8500, 3350-32A's with records $800 each, brand new in can R-2800-43b's no records $6000 to $6750. Oh, and add 13% auction fee and 5% tax.
I thought the Movie Star C-119 would bring more, it even came with 2 extra engines. The other C-119 went for just $30,000.
Thursday there is a bunch of airframes early on, some look fairly complete. Rob S

Any WW2 radio gear on auction?

Wed Aug 23, 2006 7:43 pm

Is there any WW2 radio gear on auction? We need a bunch of stuff for the restoration of Chuckie's radio compartment, mainly command sets and their accessories.
