Possible ID: Per AAIR, the only C-47 incident at Bergstrom AAF in the fall of 1945 involved parked C-47B 43-16246 being struck by an errant C-46.

I suspect that Lt. Williams wasn’t married much after August 1946.

Last fall my wife and I were on our way to see the new grandson. Around 11:00 PM we were on I-70 west of Columbus Ohio and were coming up on what looked like a gas tanker, it had red lights in a circle around a what I thought was the back end of the tank. It was slowing down to turn into a rest stop and as we were passing it, it was a plane. It was not on a trailer it was a RV, in the dark while I was driving I think it was a DC-3 but not 100%.

I asked my wife if we could take the next exit and backtrack to try to catch it again but the silence was deafening so I kept going. But what a neat idea. Preferred parking at any airshow.

Better photo and more info. Must have been a slog getting it to Portland:
