The aircraft has been de-registered and is being disassembled: I saw it yesterday...or rather, I saw the centre-section minus engines!


Now VH-TF8, air ferried to Australia on November 5 2024.

On November 12th, Rod Lewis' F6F-3 Hellcat made its first post-restoration test flight, piloted by Steve Hinton (sr.), and it has been added to the list. The aircraft had undergone a complete ground-up restoration by Ezell Aviation, spanning nearly 9 years, after Lewis had acquired the Hellcat in airworthy condition from The Fighter Collection in the UK. Two more F6F Hellcats appear soon to fly as well, with the examples owned by Yanks Air Museum and Allied Fighters.

I've also updated the P-51 and MiG-15 lists for at least the third time in the last week (each time the site has been updated, its removed my edits). Thank you Errol, John and Zac.

P-51D Mustang Moonbeam McSwine has been sold to Warbird Experiences at Biggin Hill. Its new registration is G-MCSW and I'm looking forward to seeing another new Mustang fly in the UK!

The UWF Tempest has had more taxi runs at Duxford, hopefully another flight isn't too far away.

Not an entirely new Mustang to the UK of course as she was with Frederick Akary in France between 2013 and 2018 and certainly appeared at Duxford's Flying Legends several times. She will be my other local P-51D along with G-CMDK, look forward to hearing/seeing her in the Biggin circuit!

The Sabena Old Timers Lysander OO-SOT has joined Patina/The Fighter Collection as G-LYZY on 9th December, hopefully this will see her back in the air in due course.

TF-51D Contrary Mary has flown after being shipped to Chino Airport and had some refurbishment work done by California Aerofab. It is now with its new owner in the Southeastern US.

Mosquito TV959 is back in the air. She flew just now and apparently flew yesterday as well.

This is great news! Any word on if there are plans to fly any more of the FHCAM aircraft?

Mosquito TV959 was on radar tracking south towards California but has since disappeared off radar. I’m assuming it’s Steve Hinton taking it to Chino?

It landed in Palm Springs and was visible on the museum livestream feed on their YouTube channel for a bit yesterday, looks like it got towed to another part of the airport before the end of the day.

It was quite a nice surprise to see the FHCAM Mosquito flown down to Palm Springs for the PSAM's gala event coming up in a couple weeks, honoring RAF Mosquito pilot Colin Bell, DFC, and USAAF P-51 pilot Joe Peterburs. The Mosquito was flown down to PSAM by Kevin Eldridge and Jason Muszala - great to see both still involved with the FHCAM! I've of course added Mosquito TV959 back to the list of active flyers.

With Timmermans Legends of Flight, located in Canada, having acquired the former Warbird Heritage Foundation FG-1D Corsair (N194G), I've also moved it on the Corsair listing from the US to Canada. The Timmermans collection now includes the FG-1D Corsair, TF-51D Mustang, A6M2 Zero, BF 109G-6, Spitfire Mk.XVIII and Sea Fury.

The Battle of France veteran Hawker Hurricane P3351/DR393 has returned to flight following an in-depth overhaul and repaint at Hawker Restorations in the UK (which included new fabric, and overhauled prop and engine). The aircraft, which is owned by a consortium of individuals in the Czech Republic and based at Tocna Airport, has been painted to represent Battle of Britain-era Hurricane Mk.I P3143 (coded NN-D) of No 310 (Czechoslovakian) Squadron.
