Hello all,

Hopefully this is within group rules - I am trying to gain uptodate information on the following Hawker Hunter jets for my FRADU aircraft archive web-sites.
I am finally in the position to bring it uptodate now, and would like to find out the current whereabouts of firstly Hunter T.8M XL603 - N419ZS - this airframe was last known to have been sold to Shannon Hendricks, owner of the Fairey Gannet N752XT. Little has been heard, seen or written of it (and the Gannet for that matter) for some time.

Also on the info wants list is anything relating to Hunter GA.11 WV267. This was parted out by Jaime Pinto of Camelot Aviation about 8 years ago, and now just its cockpit remains.
Last known location was Mercer, PE, USA, and appearance-wise it was painted in a rather anonymous grey colour scheme.
This airframe, when complete was in open store for years at Tulsa, OK with another Hunter airframe XK149 under the Aero Group umbrella.

If anyone can help shed any light on this, it would be great!

Sorry, no help to you on where WV267 ended up, but as long as we are talking about it, do you (or anyone else on the forum) know the identity of its sister Hunter that was also at the Mercer auction? I could not find any ID for it when looking it over, but it had the "Phoenix Aviation Museum" emblem painted on both sides. Please see my photos below from just after the auction ended. (Hopefully I loaded the image links correctly).

That's it! Thank you for this - I was unaware of the auction at all. One wonders if they sold as I notice the auction was dated July time?




That is former RAF Hunter F.6A XK149 - it was at Tulsa for years with XL603 as both were sold to Aero Group at the same time.

I dug a little deeper into the auction, and some of the bids realised were quite 'small' - WV267's cockpit/fuselage achieved a price of $950.00USD, whilst the other Hunter got to $1650.00 USD!
That seems cheap to me (obviously that doesn't include any additional auction fees/transport costs!)

Thanks for the identity on the second Hunter!

I can confirm that all aircraft were sold at the auction. The Hunter you have identified as XK149 and a couple of the WWI aircraft were the last to be retrieved by their new owners. WV267 was collected right away, but I do not know where she was headed. Sorry.

Do you know where XK149 went? It was preserved in the UK at Bruntingthorpe for a good few years before it was sold and exported across the pond, so was quite well known over here!
Had I been local to PA, I'd have bid for WV267!

I am curious how much the "WWI" aircraft went for. Anyone have the prices?

(yes, all are repros [not replicas], but still of interest)

Sorry, I do not. The only aircraft in the collection that I know the final disposition of is the L-5.

The coupe went for $525 and from looking at the photos, it is a parts plane, it would cost too much to get that one back in the air, not when you can get a flyable Coupe for $18-20,000. I paid $15k for mine 2 years ago.
