I know all the single seat fighters need to have that second seat to pay the bills, but those armor plates behind the pilot look really cool.

I'm probably very wrong here, but is a jump seat even possible in a bubble top Jug?
It seems like the canopy rail (or whatever it's called) directly behind the pilot is an essential bit.

I've never researched the history of flight gear, but two of the guys in front of the P-47 are wearing flight suits that show a zipper layout similar to today's US flight suits. Very cool image and interesting contrast of the models the other guys are wearing.

The zippered suits are USAAF K-1 Summer Flights Suits. Or, "Suit Flying, Very Light, Cotton Twill, Type K-1" to quote the label

But it would appear that 44-88757 had a fairly colorful career, including being involved in a collision with the 3rd Jug pictured, 44-88680!
