I am surprised there are not extant SC-1s.
Are there any surviving Hampdens?
The dismembered remains of at least one of the USS Indianapolis's SC-1s were found near the wreck when it was discovered last summer. Of course, as a war grave the Indianapolis is hallowed ground and will (appropriately) remain undisturbed, so the plane will never be recovered. Still, it was a bit of a shock when the video was released. I believe this is the only Seahawk in existence.
As for Hampdens, I believe the one picutred above was recovered in Russia back in the 90s and is undergoing long-term rebuild at the RAF Museum. There's another Hampden at the Canadian Museum of Flight in British Columbia. It was rebuilt from three different wrecks, but I'm not sure how much of it is original material, and how much reproduction.
