This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

An acquaintance of mine claims he flew in one many years ago. I'm skeptical, and I want to win my free beer from him

Your friend just won the beer !!! The Planes of Fame P-38 "Skidoo" has a very small area that a passenger can fit into... Mike

IIRC, Mudge was excited about the possibility of a ride in "Skidoo"...until the reality of "square peg, round hole" became apparent...Mudge was no small fellow.

Didn't the CAF P-38 Scatterbrain Kid have a rear M Model style jump seat?

Yep, Scatterbrain Kid II with a seat in the glass nose making it a 3-seater.

Oh, and to clarify things Jesse, Scatterbrain Kid did, but it was not a CAF aircraft.

I believe the seat mod for Scatterbrain Kid II came from the P-38M that was at the Champlian Museum when they made her back into a one seater.

It would be cool to see a P-38M flying! Although, maybe it is just me, nothing makes me more nauseous faster than sitting under Plexiglas in full sun with no air movement - 'Crack the canopy please!' That is what I thought of those photos of being stuffed into the jump seat and the P-38M radar operators seat.
