Good news. B-58 55-0666 is currently being disassembled for shipment to Castle. I'll keep you updated. I've got some early pics.
Here's the link to my gallery: I'll keep that up to date throughout this project, and let you know when I upload new pics. Wish us luck!

Best of luck indeed! Hope they can get some photos of the cockpit. And thanks to you all again for coming to 55-0666's rescue.

Fantastic! Yes please give us updates as you can.
Are all 4 engines missing? Just nacelles?
Nice to see Castle's B-58 pod will be reunited with a bomber!

No engines. We've got the intakes, nacelles and exhaust.
I will update this thread as things go.

Thank you! I have a feeling we're gonna need it. No need to thank us; it is our privilege, but you're welcome all the same. I am very excited to work on this project. I won't have any idea what kind of shape it's in, cockpit included, until it shows up. I am hoping the cockpit is in good shape. I'll let everyone know in a month give or take.

The first couple of trucks are in. We've got a crew out there now, so the move should go fast and furious now.
I've updated the album with some random pics of pieces - parts being offloaded. These can also be found on our FaceBook page.

My pleasure. I have been looking forward to this project long before we even knew we were getting it. The Hustler was my first love as a kid.

Terrific! Hate to ask, but did you all find a way of dismantling the wings from the fuselage without cutting it up? If not, where will it get cut?

The wings of a B-58 are not bolted on. They have to be cut. I am not not a metal / fab guy. We have a crew of those types out there with the shippers, and I'm sure they'll figure it out. It's been done before.
I'll be more involved with what she'll look like in the end, but I'll take plenty of pics along the way.

The one we had at Fort Worth had the cut in the gear bay, between the inboard and outboard pivots.

Couldn't you transport it the old fashioned way? I mean, Castle does have a B-36....

LoL, that picture has been the subject of much laughter in the Hangar. "Whaddya mean we have to take it apart?"
We tried to tell the PTB that all we had to do was put the B-36's wings on a swivel, make it VTOL, and we're good. For some reason they nixed our idea.
