This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Gary never ceased to amaze me with his talent & knowledge when it came to aircraft maintenance & restoration. What a Master he was!
We miss you old Buddy!

CAPFlyer, thank you, that is now my desktop background.
I saw Gary at Oshkosh with Ol' 927, was going to introduce myself and tell him how much I enjoyed his WIX thread, but there were many people talking to him, and I had things I wanted to see, so I didn't.

The thread about the conversion of ol' 927 is definitely one of the best threads of this forum.
I did think to Gary very often and more when I did my first sheet metal work restoring a old car.
He is sorely missed here

You're welcome. That image, in much higher resolution, was presented as a poster to Gary in 2008 at the Summer Staff Meeting on behalf of all of us here at WIX for his taking time out of his project to give us the wonderful thread of his work on 'Lil/927. I know he put it on the wall in his office, so it's probably out there somewhere. If anyone knows, it would be fitting if that poster/picture found its way to the new HQ. I think it'd be something nice as a remembrance of him in the Dir. of Maintenance's office or something like that.

Gary introduced me to WIX personally, word of mouth. Talk about a "gift that keeps on giving" (Thank you Scott!!). Whenever I see pics of ol' 927, first thing I look for is Kilroy. Now that is Gary Austin in a word to me.
How many of y'all know what I mean? Quick, somebody produce a picture of Kilroy!
