On May 23rd, it was announced that the Chanute Air Museum will be permanently closing on December 30, 2015.

Anyone interested in purchasing or trading for items listed on the museum Sale/Trade page or the Texan Project Sale/Trade page is encouraged to do so as soon as possible. The items shown on those pages may be withdrawn at any time, and once removed from the site will no longer be available.

As restoration stock is released from projects, new items may be added in coming months, and will be subject to the same limitations as noted above and on the web pages.

Hello,

I have a question about the O-2 the museum has. Is it a USAFM aircraft along with everything else or is that owned by the museum? Are there any plans for the O-2 if it is not USAFM?

I'm looking to find an O-2 for our collection either for static display or possibly to restore to flight.

Thanks,

Tyler Pinkerton

On May 28th, the Chanute Air Museum announced it will close it's doors at the end of this year (2015). To help with the costs of shutting down, We are putting up restoration stock parts at http://p51h.home.comcast.net/~p51h/at6b/sale/sale.htm

New items include parts for the static restoration of the AT-6, which now will not be added to the plane. some of these are pictured below. The T-6 interior was to be restored to AT-6D configuration and these are appropriate for that model.

I just wanted to pass along a special thanks to those of you that have placed orders from our restoration parts stock here at the Chanute Air Museum. The extra funds will help keep the doors open until year end, and provide the means to properly secure and store the museum's collection of documentation and artifacts after the closure on December 30th.

I hope to keep adding more items to the parts page to move as much of this stock as we can, so check back every couple of weeks to see what's been added.

Parts are here> http://p51h.home.comcast.net/~p51h/at6b/sale/sale.htm

Thank You!

Since the announcement that the Chanute Air Museum is closing at the end of this year, we have been awaiting word on the disposition of the aircraft in the collection here. Today, we learned that the P-51H Mustang, Louisiana Heatwave will be going to the Museum of Aviation at Robins AFB, Georgia. https://www.museumofaviation.org/ We don't have a date for the move but assume it will be next year after the Chanute Air Museum closes.
For those who aren't familiar, our restoration pages are located here>>>> http://p51h.home.comcast.net/~p51h/index.htm
At this time, we haven't been told where the AT-6 will be going, but I'll pass that along as soon as I know.

I need to get down there this summer! Good to hear the H is going to a good museum. Any news on where any of the other aircraft are going? PLEASE don't say anything will be scrapped!

No news on the other aircraft as of yet. I told the wife if they decide to scrap the T-6, I'd bring it home as a lawn ornament. :D VETOED! :(
