Kicked off the 2015 season in Stuart Florida with a visit from Ernest Reid. Ernest and his crew departed Hamilton Field CA on December 6th, 1941 and arrived at Pearl Harbor during the attack. His B-17C was damaged by attacking fighters and caught fire, the result can be seen in the inset photo. One of the crew was killed by strafing fighters as he fled the wreckage. I can't image what he was thinking as he sat in 909.

Thank You X a Millions Jim! For Bringing ALL those Birds to us! Great shots as always ! I remember the Fokker Tripe being all red with Collings , it looks like it's being recovered. Anyone know if it is/has gone back to all red, or something else? Funny how COOL the Big Iron is, but that little tripe stuck in my head!

much appreciated! It's been quite and adventure. There is always a story to tell and pictures seem to do it best. It's why we all share this interest.

Irwin Stovroff and "Cash"...Irwin is a B-24 vet from the 44th Bomb Group and shot down over France. He spent a good part of the war in Stalag Luft 1 in Barth. He spends days with us telling his story. He is one of the nicest and one of the most genuine persons you could ever know.



Mr. Katsaros was shot down over Reims France and taken in by the French Underground. He spent a good bit of time around Paris and Reims before escaping to Spain. Another really cool guy and sharp as a tack.

If you're going to stick with Nikon, I'd recommend the D7100 for a great DX format camera. I bought one last fall and I'm loving it.

I'm leaning towards the 5300 cause I'm really hard on cameras...the D80 has been great but they don't have the lasting power of the traditional film cameras.

I add a vote for the D7100 also. It has a lot more features than the 5000 series, such as more direct access to menus, faster focus and more focus points, two user presets available...and still an "Automatic" setting when you need to point and shoot and just go. The layout is set up like the low level pro series like the D750 and the top of the line D4 (both FX instead of DX cameras). I have a D5100 that I moved out of and found some of it great, and some of it very limiting. For aviation it seems to hit its limits quickly. It is also a rather small camera, and in my research I found that it is intended for teen girls who think they may want to get into photography...thus the smaller size. The small size has been a problem to hold steady on occasion for me. Nikon is also known for being a news camera, and designed to take something of a beating in day to day use.

Thanks for the advice on the Cameras...my backpack recently fell out of the back of the van and broke the lens off my D-80...so purchasing a camera is top of the list. Oh well stuff happens. We are finished with the Florida Tour and preparing for the National Tour. Time certainly does fly!
