Hi

I decided to make this thread to give people a chance to put up aircraft or parts in danger of the scrap man.
Hopefully someone might see something on here and find a way to save it.
I'll start off with Dick's Wessex. It is a heli in Victoria Australia that will most likely face the scrapman in a couple of months time.
Corrosion is a big problem and also a quite excessive price tag. I've considered it but it is way too expense for me to buy it and move it. However if no one ends up saving it I might be able section the cockpit and strip it of panels and everything which may be of use to other restorations.
Also does anyone have news of the P38 somewhere in the pacific, i forget where, it was brought up from a swamp to recover remains and then stored but the locals want money for metal so it may be scrapped. It was featured in Classic Wings I believe, any news?

Hopefully we can get some contributions and maybe save some stuff :)

Don't really understand the locals desire to scrap it they may get a few thousand but if they sold it to a restorer I'm sure they would get several hundred thousand at least. But if they only want a few thousand for it I'll give them 10k for it sight unseen, right now.....

According to a news article in the main topic thread for the P-38, a local Guadalcanal resident filed the necessary paperwork to take possession of the P-38 and it is now stored in a warehouse. He plans to clean and preserve the P-38 and wishes that it could be restored to flying status, but admits that he has limited restoration expertise. That's better than nothing and far better than it being scrapped like the locals wanted.

The 4-engine Douglas propliners come to mind as an endangered breed, as it seems many were scrapped or lined up to be over the last 15 years...

Is DC-4/C-54 N44914 still existant? This aircraft may have appeared on controller.com and/or trade-a-plane for $75k a few years back... it would be a crying shame for a Skymaster that nice to be lost.

Last week I saw the nose of the recently scrapped Douglas "African Queen" at Falcon Field in Mesa, AZ.

The C-54 in Douglas ga looks to be scrapped as the spar caps are really getting bad from what I hear. Beautiful airplane but would just cost way more than its worth to repair. Happened to more than a few.

There is a series of photos at the following URL taken in June, 2014. It says it is stored at North Weald.
