This photo is from a 'freeze' image off the TV of a 'Secrets of World War II' - 'Destroy the German Oil Fields' episode. The show was all WWII film, no CGI or re-enactments (which I dislike intensely) Shows what looks to be a 'ring' around a small village/road junction. It was in a sequence of aerial movie footage, not a 'still'. The narrative made no mention of what is was. I've posted this on another Forum about a month age with no definite explanation, but some real good guesses.

Anybody got an idea of what we are looking at?

Looks like a 3D training relief model of a target area or showing an area to avoid due to Flak.

A large prototype of a super hadron collider?

But yeah, a training map seems most likely.

Godzilla's hula-hoop?

As mentioned above, it's probably a 3-D training model. Several highly detailed models of the Ploesti area were constructed based on aerial recon photos, so pilots could familiarize themselves with the terrain and landmarks.

In the IMPACT edition that covers the low-level raid there are several training models shown. That's what it is for sure.

I'm with Jerry, I'd say its a defensive zone indicator.

It is actually the first test flight of an alien space ship. It was later used to transport the B-32 to the moon.
