B-24 was featured in the 1977 TV movie Young Joe:The Forgotten Kennedy, hence the name "Joe" ?
Not always in the dungeon. Any photos as "Delectable Doris" ? Can't remember that.

Another one of Rohr's made up stories. The airplane was painted as Joe for the Kennedy movie. No other reason.

Great shots! I have some snapshots of "Delectable Doris" from 1975 at the Pratt & Whitney 50th show. It'll take some time to dig them out.
Tallichet's B-24 was NOT painted as "Joe" for the filming of the TV movie. It was painted "Joe" sometime after that. Perhaps in honor of him, but it is not seen on the aircraft in the film. I do remember it in late 1980's at Manchester as "Delectable Doris". I didn't see the "Joe" artwork until it went on tour with DT's road show.
BTW, the two B-24's together at Manchester was 1989.

Collings "All American", shortly after it was first restored, and Tallichet's "Delectable Doris".
The 2 B-17's that same year (1989) were Tallichet's "100 Bomb Group" (now "the Movie Memphis Belle")
and "Fuddy Duddy". "909" was absent, dismantled in Beaver Falls, PA. :(

You are right Jerry. I should have said it was painted "because" of the movie. Either way, my point is that it wasn't done because of anything that happened in the Bible Belt as Rob claims.

Its amazing that someone will still blast Rob for something he didnt even say. I did.

I was sad to see the Doris art come off. I was told this "Made up Story" by a long time crew member.
I came along just after the OQU show where the B-24 lost an engine enroute. The nose art was changed not too long after.
When I took the pics in Bedford was when we had it for a Summer, Kermit came to look at it there, it was off to FL shortly after.

I have been in search of New England Escadrille airshow photos all over the interwebs, and for some reason did not think to check on here until now. Some great photos have been posted already! Looking for some of the early 90's shows that happened just before they stopped in 92 (I believe). My father swears that there was a Malcolm Hood model P-51B/C at one of the last shows, which he swears had about 25 P-51's at. The only Malcom Hood P-51 that I am aware of (and have ever seen) is John Sessions up at PAE. I was 12, I'm 100% positive that I would remember that back then, and I don't.
I was able to put closure on the ID of the B-24 that was at one of the late 80's shows as the one now owned by Kermit Weeks. I had been wondering about that one!
My father is coming out here on a visit and said he would bring some of the photos from those shows (we went every year), which I will scan and post.

I'm pretty sure the only B/C Mustang flying during that time was the ex-Pete Regina "Shangra La" which, at that point in time, was owned by Joe Kasperof. That airplane did not/does not sport a Malcolm hood nor do I believe it ever wandered anywhere near New England. As I recall the Roush "Old Crow" was the first restored Mustang to fly with a Malcolm hood and that was much later.
