Aha. So that faded buzz number on the tail must be TL-560. Have you ordered the record card yet?

I was finally able to make out the TL 560 on the tail today. it is extremely faded, but it its there.

I've been sick more often than not this year, so no progress has been made. I do have the front and rear axles now, but not in place.

Hey Jason! I'm finally on WIX, but as a new user I cannot (as in not allowed to!) use the PM function!?
I am unable to contact "Santini" about him possibly having any additional pics/info about MAF T-28 #28.
If you are bored one day (doubtful) maybe you could pass this info along to him?!
Hopefully he will just see this post...

Thanks!
Dave

Steve, that was some great detective work finding the record card info on Jason's T-28.
The other T-28 seen in the pictures along with Jason's is #51-7582.
Any chance you could find the record card for this one too?
Thanks!
Dave

Sure. Let me see what I can dig up.

I have just uploaded an Excel file (link below) summarising the results of some research into the post-USAF fates (civil & non-US military) of all T-28A's. Work on USN T-28’s is ongoing. Note that this file does not include data on US military histories, only what happened to them since.

http://www.thai-aviation.net/files/T_28 ... s_USAF.xls

There are very few for which no fate is known, although the level of detail varies widely. Data is from primary sources (FAA files, USAF data cards etc), not much-published and often erroneous sources.

Any comments very welcome, and feel free to use the data.

Thanks Steve! 51-7582 is now with the US Veterans Museum in Granbury, Texas.
It is slated for static restoration and eventual display (along with the C-119 Flying Boxcar formerly on display for decades at the now closed Pate Museum of Transportation).
We would appreciate any additional USAF history on this aircraft.

Thanks!
Dave

Steve, I would post some current pics but I am a new member to WIX and unfortunately the admin has seen fit to restrict certain abilities for new members, including posting pics.
I see I've been labeled as "former lurker"! Interesting choice... Oh well, one day I'll be able to share them..??
Also, I did visit your T-28 site yesterday, a terrific compilation of individual Trojan histories!

Thanks!
Dave

Jason,

Why don't you just keep the T-28 as is or complete it up into a static display? The fuselage looks pretty complete and it can't be too hard to find a set of wings for it. :drink3:

Completely off topic to the T-28..,,

But Jason, are you by any chance an Aceshigh II player? I was reading through your C-60 thread and saw an R2D2 that looked awfully familiar from a thread over there years back.

Thanks for the research Steve!
Sorry, I've been too busy to check back until now, I'll relay the info to the museum!

Sorry folks for not responding to this thread in a long time. No, I've never heard of Acehigh II. I'm not much into playing games-- I have my hands full with work.
Nathan, the T-28 I have is extremely far gone. It would take a miracle to even make it a static display. Some of the "good" parts off of mine have been donated to the other T-28 that will be made into a static display in Granbury, TX.
For those that have asked about the progress on the T-28. Very little has been done due to all the other projects that I have been working on. I did find a neat set of wheels for it, but that is about it. I do plan on buying more steel for the automotive framework next week. The BIGGEST issue I've run into is a place to work on the beast. I keep it in the world's most run down aircraft hangar, that is equipped with no electricity, a dirt floor, massive leaks in the ceiling and it floods every time it rains. My workspace at home has grown too small for the beast. However, I refuse to give up on the project. When i come up with a more suitable workspace option, the project will move forward. In the mean time, I will just continue to collect parts.
