Very cool! Photo 19 or 20 on page 3 (looking at the pranged prop) shows a B-17 named "Stop and Stare"....appears to be 97th BG/ 341 BS.

Edit: Should have kept reading.....but interestingly the plane has "girl art" on the right side and the bucking mule on the left side.....

I could just imagine when this aeroplane was assigned to the squadron, and sent to have its codes applied,;

"Hey Stan, how about we paint the letters in a different font? Lets call it Helvetica Rounded!"

"Yeah Bill, that'll confuse the markings experts in about seventy years!"

A comment and a question:

1. Those Brits have very skinny legs.

2. Did this SAAF unit operate in the Yugoslavia area? Are there combat records available that indicate that?
(If so, they may have been involved in the demise of my uncle, Cvitan Galic.)
