stuff to make you proud if you work for UNINTENTAL

UAL today bumped a confirmed, boarded passenger from a flight between Seattle and Honolulu because they 'needed to upload more fuel because of weather conditions'. (@ 180 lbs that's less than 20 gallons of jet A)

The individual inconvenienced happened to be a 90 year old Pearl Harbor survivor. But, UAL did spring into immediate action and booked him onto another flight departing 8 hours later, I want to fly with those pros! What a low rent, disgraceful, disrespectful thing to do! :bs: :butthead:

Before throwing them under the bus, let's have the FULL STORY.

From - http://www.kpho.com/story/24143676/outr ... und-flight

1) There were 41 people bumped. Not 1.
2) They were flying a 737 (800 ETOPS or 900ER, doesn't specify)
3) This is *NOT* unusual to have to bump going to Hawaii from LA.

Why are we blaming the airline who picked by a number system that ignores who a person is (for obvious reasons) and uses fare class and other statistical data to pick who's removed, instead of the other 100+ people on the flight who WERE NOT BUMPED and yet chose not to take his place?

I'm sorry, I can't hold much of a fire under United for doing what is done every day on many flights. I hold accountable the ungrateful little people who stayed on the plane instead of giving up their seat for a WWII Vet, something I would've done in a heartbeat and have done before for less than a vet.

I blame an international carrier for using a regional jet for a Trans Pacific operation. The 737 is obviously just technically able to fly the route, otherwise they wouldn't have to bump 30% of the passengers from the airplane. It's as stupid as American replacing 767-200's LA to NY with A-320's. Yeah, that'll work
