Here is a link to an article about the air show in Punta Gorda, Florida coming up on March 29,30 2014. http://www.floridaairshow.com/media/pdf ... dTop10.pdf

I am hoping Doc will be ready to be there.

As much as I'd love to see Doc flying that soon, I don't think it's going to happen. I believe I read somewhere that Doc is around a year to two years from flying. But I will say that they are kicking a$$ on getting Doc airworthy.

What is the plan for Doc's engines? Are they to be original R-3350s with turbos or modified like Fifi's?

He looks great with all the nacelles mounted. I wonder what the status of the fourth engine, last 2 propellers & the new exhaust is. Just love to see all the progress.

It's a very welcoming realization, knowing that Doc will have the most reliable version of the 3350 created for the 29. Having both B-29's on the same power plant program will ensure these planes stay flying for years to come.

The 4th, along with two spares, are still being worked. The 6th one is supposed to be here by the end of January last I heard. The last two props are still under restoration in Texas, and we sent a few parts last week to the group building our exhaust system. Probably no updates from me this week- my second child is coming sometime today!

Thanks so much. Hybrid engines. Too bad, but understandable. The price we pay to keep them flying in the 21st Century.

Congratulations on the baby! Thanks again for keeping us updated. I have been watching this project for many years online and kind of gave up hope when they stopped working on it.

Now things seem to be moving fast and progress is being made. Can't wait to see it fly!

That is where they were sending the exhaust and cowlings from what I understand.

We're following Doc's progress closely, and looking forward to seeing it back in the air!

Work is slowing down a bit at the moment but it does continue. Every week we lose a few snowbirds to the South. Currently I'm trying to work through a big pile of undispositioned tags making sure the work got done and getting our inspector to sign off. Anyway though, plan is to hang the #2 engine within a few weeks, hopefully permanently but likely temporarily to test fit up some fittings and check the fit. So that's exciting. Not much else to mention though at the minute.

The number one engine is on! Fit like a glove. Number two will follow within a couple weeks.
