This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

The Friedkin collection of course already includes a very complete Battle of France/Battle of Britain/Eastern Front combat vet Bf 109E awaiting restoration at Planes of Fame/Fighter Rebuilders. I would particularly like to see something like it end up with the Texas Flying Legends museum, as you know the aircraft would be flown and be seen often, and it would be a spectacular addition to that growing collection. It would also be an interesting aircraft to go to a particular French warbird owner or two - the idea of displaying at La Ferte Alais, jumping over the Channel for some UK shows, making some appearances in Germany (swastika temporarily covered), etc.

My predictions for where she'll go is as follows...
Texas Flying Legends
Tillamook Air Museum
EADS
Fredikin Collection
Kermit Weeks
I'll put my money on one of the five.
Maybe the casc?

I don't mean to hijack the thread here, but has there ever been any talk of Planes of Fame getting their -109 back up and running (the real one, not the Hispano)?

No, I don't think so. My understanding is that too many good parts went missing or were swapped out when it was sent to Germany to be restored. It left with an overhaulable engine and returned as a static display only with junk parts. Please take these statements as hearsay though. I don't remember who told me this and it was probably 30 years ago.
