Why was Thunder over Michigan moved from The WIX Hangar?

Cheers,

Tom Walsh.

I see it's been moved to the 'Airshows, events and WIX gatherings' (or sth similar) subforum. Didn't even realise that existed, but have now noticed that the thread on the 'Warbirds and Legends' meeting in Topeka, KS has also been moved there.
OK, another subforum to keep an eye on...

Seems like MAJOR warbird air show threads (like Thunder Over Michigan or the CWHM Hamilton show, etc.) have worked fine for several years in the main WIX Hangar forum, but I guess the move was made to make it more "technically correct."

Oh well.......... :?

Fair enough, but while they are in a moving mood, lets have the other shows, books, movies etc. moved also. In other words, if you are going to house clean, clean the whole thing.

Cheers,

Tom Walsh.

Just an idea: I think the entire forum could use a good reorganization as some boards kinda overlap in subject or in the wrong category. Im not a fan of sub-boards and I think some sub-boards could probably be made as regular boards. But honestly the wix hangar is about the only board I check up on for the most part. :(

just my .02$

Just an opinion: I don't have time to sift through all kinds of sub-boards. To me, it makes sense to have subboards like modeling and re-enactors, etc., but the main WIX board is the one I surf and it sure would be nice to leave the airshow threads there. That way we're sure to see them, and the follow-on show photos can also be posted under the same thread. Putting all that in a sub-thread just results in me missing events and news.

My thoughts exactly. And all the restoration threads as well. Wasnt really happy when my C47 thread got moved as there are stickied ones in this forum as well as others that keep getting posted here.

Personally, I think if anything, the restoration sub-forum should be its own main forum.

I don't like sub forums either but I found an easy way to deal with it. I posted this once before but I'll put it here anyway.

If people only look at one section on WIX and ignore the other sections then you run the risk of missing something that might interest you and is misplaced. If you just click the "view unread posts" button then everything shows up from all sub forums and pages that you haven't looked at and you can pick and choose what you like, regardless of the section it is in. From there its simple to click "board index" and then "Mark Forums read", thus clearing out all the other messages you don't care to read. If I didn't do it this way I would probably just check the main board too and most of the other boards are of no interest to me. Occasionally something will get put somewhere else and I'll find it interesting, but I also find it by using the procedure I just listed.

One other thing that is getting to be obnoxious is the massive amount of sticky's, several of which could probably stand to lose that status. The fifi thread hardly ever gets updated anymore and one of the guys that worked on the plane is dead and the other is no longer with the caf. The caf doesn't seem to do a lot of updating on an airplane that flies a lot and is on tour a lot of the time. What's the plan for fifi? Probably keep flying it since the work other than regular maintenance is finished. The Texas Raiders thread is really dated with very little new stuff that makes keeping it at the top worthwhile. There are others but those two come to mind right now. I think there is a need for sticky's but they should be for projects that are regularly updated or added to.
