Xmas Wings

Folks

Yesterday evening we had the Xmas Wings display here at Omaka, which involved flying displays taking place to Xmas music over about 3 hours, ending with the arrival of Father Xmas. The profits from the show are to go towards the Air Heritage Center based at the field, which should hopefully open in the early part of 2006.
Unfortunately the light wasn't the best for photos.

Feel free to promote such events on the NZ Aviation Forum mate, you might generate a little more interest there. I'll bet many of our memebrs hadn't heard of this event, and they'd like to see your photos.

Apart from the King Kong replica, can you confirm what else will be in the Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre? Is basically everything based there going to become part of the centre? Or is it a seperate museum that'll operate independently from other operators on the 'drome? How will it work?

I would say around 2,500-3,000 in attendance. I believe the event is only promoted in and around Blenheim, due to it being a short and limited flying event.
The Heritage Centre will be a 'living museum' , so apart from static displays, flyable aircraft will be on display, but can easily be rolled out when required. Most of Peter Jackson's aircraft and his substantial amount of memorabilia will be on display. Weta Workshop will be designing the dioramas (now that Kong is over with). Other machines are planned including a Spit, P-51, Anson, Blenheim, but not confirmed as yet and won't be elaborated on until they are.
