There was a C-17 parked on the ramp at Detroit Metro (DTW) today. It must be an FAA ramp or something, I've seen the C-17, a KC-135, and an Antonov parked there in the last few months.

Something really exotic...a FedEx Cessna 208.

Saw a P-51 flying over the mountains near Hot Springs Sunday afternoon. No idea which P-51 it could have been and didn't get a good look at the markings through the trees... No mistaking the sound of a Merlin though!!

Well, you just know it's getting close to: the end of the month, the end of the quarter, and the end of the year, based on all the P-3 activity around my house in the last few days-gotta get that flight pay

You can count on it being about using up the quarter's fuel budget~
The end of the quarter I'll give ya, but the fiscal year ends in September.

It is also pro'lly along the lines of 'get it all in before we stand down for the holiday leave period.'

As for what's in the air~
I'm about six or eight blocks from LAX right now,
there's nothing interesting to see flyin' 'round here... geek  :?

(but on the taxi in to the gate tonight I did see a 'UNITED' 787 parked next to their maintenance hanger.
I also saw about three A-380s parked here and there)

I'll brag...
On Saturday I flew in a 1936 WACO EQC-6 for 1 hour.
Fun ride, great aircraft.

About 11:00 this morning, a Huey Slick flew over my house at LOW altitude, heading east. It was overall OD green with no visible "warbird" markings. I could hear it coming for at least two minutes before it got here!

Don't know what it was, but something just went over the house, very low and very fast. It looked to be about 60 feet long with it's anti collision beacon on the front and it was definately set up for Arctic operations because it was ski equipped and I'm sure I heard the jingling of bells as it went over and the exhaust smelled of pipe smoke-

Strange birds in odd places- just heard an odd rotor slap, went out on the front deck to look into the screaming blue sky and whatever that big bright thingie is in the Western sky (after months of 1500 ft solid ceilings) to see a MARINE CH-46 PHROG transiting South-North between me and NAS Whidbey. Far as I'm aware no carrier @ NS Everett or Bremerton.
