Friedkin Family Warbirds - contact info?

Wed Dec 26, 2012 2:58 pm

I've read that the Friedkin family warbird collection is hangared in the Houston area (registered under Comanche Fighters LLC and Comanche Warbirds LLC). Three questions: Which airport (Hobby)? Is it possible to visit the hangar if I request advance permission? And does anyone have contact information so that I can request permission?

I'll be in Houston in early 2013 to visit family and would really like to see their fighters: P-38, Mustangs, Spitfires, Hellcat, Wildcat, Bearcats, etc, etc

Thanks for any help you can provide!!

You might want to visit Lone Star Flight Museum in Galveston, nice collection there.

Thanks for your responses.

51fixer: Can you tell me which private airport? I still would like to visit the collection if I can get permission.

67M20: Yes, I agree. Lone Star Flight Museum in Galveston has a great collection of warbirds and I visit there every chance I get. My last visit was about 9 months ago. The picture of their P-47 (to the left) is one that I took during one of those visits.

I've never been there and really don't know.
Its 100 miles or more away from the Houston area so is remote is all I know.

Dennis: I believe your referring to Comanche Ranch. A beautifully built private field, tucked away among the endless fields in Texas. But I wouldn't expect to get a chance to visit the field. But never say never I suppose!

These guys over on this flight simulator forum already had a conversation about this.

I wish the buildings at the NMUSAF were as well lit as this hangar is. The place shines!

That is one lovely grass airstrip. What a luxury!
