My apologies if this has been posted already:

I realize Chris Miller didn't make an enormous number of friends at WIX with some initial posts & responses a few years back, but I'd like to think that most of the regulars here are forgiving enough to offer second and third chances. I personally wish him success in his efforts.

A Harvard wasn't masochistic enough?

To be fair, he didn't finish the Harvard. I think he sold it on to buy an engine.

Of course I haven't finished my T-6 yet either...

C'mon Rob. Not even an "atta' boy" for giving it the old college try? Perhaps punching a pillow would help? Bacardi seems to be working for me as I type this. :drinkers:

Anybody with Bob Diemert and Revenge-of-the-Nerds as an icon has to know I was kidding. Have another Bacardi! I have a Sunrise Margarita next to my elbow. I am not a shill for Sauza, but it is cheap and good.

I have actually talked to Chris. He seems like a good guy. I think the Harvard went up for sale the day he had to call Lance, as I predicted.

Now that is just my fantasy, but I think it is a good one.

Good luck Chris. Same $100,000 or less budget for this one too?

Unfair? Perhaps.

IMO it would depend on motive. I'm preaching forgiveness.

A search under author "HarvardIV" should satisfy your curiosity.

I wonder if he'll replace all those pesky complex Hawker tube joints with a nice, simple welded frame, just like he proposed on a Hurricane rebuild.

HarvardIV wrote:
I'd agree, you don't have to make it 100% original, just weld the joints, and make it 90% original. It's experimental anyway.

Why not do it w/ welds, and let somebody else waste 20 years on the silly little frame splices.

Hi Chris,

Any chance your Tempest will be restored in the markings of the following;

Squadron Leader David Charles "Foob" Fairbanks from Ithaca, New York, was the sole American, and one of only four RCAF personnel in World War II, who was awarded a British DFC and two Bars. He was the highest scoring Tempest Ace and that type's most decorated Pilot. Officially, he is credited with 13.5 aerial victories and 3 aircraft damaged.

Cheers,

Tom Walsh.
