The car belongs to America's Car Museum (LeMay's).
Myself and a bunch of local StudeGuys are restoring it for them.
We've hit a few snags, and the progress of late is slow- but it's coming along.
They made it very clear from the start- they are handling the publicity.
Here's one way they are doing that~

Those guys do know how to put on a show- even if just in transist, eh.
Thanks for the reminder- I can't believe it's time for that already- where has the Summer gone?
I just might have to work that into my schedule somehow.

On Monday I went out to see the locals depart for Blakesburg.
Pemberton's Boeing 40, Larry's laird, and a few transiting from the coast...including the beautiful Ryan SCW. Wow, what a plane!
Also a Stinson 10, Command-Aire, Waco biplane, Stearmans, Cubs, and a nice restored 50 Pacer with a correct 53 paint scheme.
I love the old GA 50s paint schemes. I'd like to see more planes restored with their original schemes..instead of trying to make them to look newer.

Tuesday: Beaver on Amphibs....heading away from the area lakes.
The pilot left the wheels down (probably not a bad idea if you're going from land to land...since you can't forget to lower them).
Ther used to be one based here, owned by a somewhat older guy with lots of neat GA toys. He suddenly passed away from cancer and everything was sold.

Nope. But this show was just around the corner from there!!!
I have vowed to not go to LeMay's until the Avanti (s/n 1001) I am working on for them is done.
Being that it's the FIRST Avanti built- it's sort of a big deal for all the StudeFolks involved... geek :supz:[/b]

Not to blow my own horn, but as a Avanti owner, I made a donation to the project.

Also, I saw it as the green paint was being stripped....yikes, what a color!

***This really needs to made a sticky, it was 5 pages deep when I went trying to find it and it is pretty popular-MODS??????********

Well-- I'm happy to report that she made it as far north as Ferndale.
About ten minutes ago I saw her RIGHT OVER my StudeShop...

only she was at 1000 AGL or less!!! pop2 :supz:

It looked to me as though she may have been inbound to KBLI.

It's kinda odd to be sitting in the computer room and you hear 'something' way, way down low and soft and you think 'that sounds big and round and like more than one...'but you know from the tone it's not 2 R-2800's, so Bad Kitty is out, but it's not 2 R-2600's so BUSTER and GRUMPY are out, OK, grab the binocs, go out on the deck and start scanning the very smoke hazed up skies and catch it in a 30 degree bank doin' a 360 all very stately and slow. Then watch it steam away at a majestic rate.

This C-130 flew over my back yard earlier this week. I live about 15 miles from Hurlburt Field, FL. But I know very little about USAF aircraft so I will not venture a guess on what it is or what it was doing.

Considering the finish, mods, markings and prominent nose...wherever she's going...who ever she looks at when she gets there, won't know they're being looked at and won't know she was there in the first place...and when she gets back to where she came from....you didn't see it!

Wasn't flying, but I swore I saw a Volga Antonov parked on the ramp at Detroit Metro this morning.

I saw an interesting two-ship formation pass by my house early this afternoon... a pair of classic Bellanca taildragger monoplanes! One was silver with red trim (it lives at our local airport, Lakeview 30F) and other was all bright yellow. Neato! :D

Mustang with invasion stripes heading westbound over Fullerton, Ca about 1:15 today. Must have been cooler up there, it was 102 on the ground (and 106 in Chino where it was likely coming from).
