I haven't been close to the AHM for years but I had never heard of a corrosion problem on the Connie. Glad to hear it's looking clean after an inspection, though.
Their Martin 404 has a corrosion problem and hasn't flown since the 90's, however. Too bad, dad flew those for Southern Airways and I always liked them.

Speaking of their Martin 404 (still in old SAC/Save-a-Connie markings rather than TWA like the Connie) which I also toured when at the AHM last weekend, it looks pretty nice. And believe it or not the volunteer who took us through it and the Connie, told us that someone who recently looked at the 404 (presumably same person who inspected the Connie) said that he could find no corrosion in it either. Don't know how accurate this is, but wouldn't it be terrific to see the Martin back in the air someday also??
