Love the last shot of the sunken concrete ship and (restored) watch tower at Sunset Beach. 8)

The observation tower has been restored in recent years and was built during WWII to spot for the nearby artillery battery (still there, just out of the picture).

The ship is the S.S. Atlantus, an experimental WW I cargo ship made out of concrete... after the war it was towed to sunset beach to be used as a dock. Instead it broke free in a storm and came to rest just off the beach and has been sitting there since 1926.

Do you mind if we hate you sometimes, just a little bit? :)

Must feel like winning the lottery to do that stuff

nah...you guys can hate me all you want :) ...if you would have told me 10 years ago I would be doing this I would have laughed at you. if anything I am proof that hard work, alttle bit of skill and luck will get you more than you can imagine. I am and will always be a pilot...static airplanes are a waste of effort in my opinion. Until you dance with a Mustang or wrangle a B-17 in a heavy crosswind, or drop "ordinance" from a B-24, history is lost to the ages...I have flown the Skyraider to satisfy the checkride requirements... just need to get it done...its an awesome machine. Until the last time the mags are turned to "OFF" I will quietly scream "keep em' flying"

Well, I think we may thank our lucky stars that Jim's "little bit of skill and luck" includes passing on the thrill. The photos have been first rate throughout this thread, and now the prose begins to soar too. Thanks for allowing us to ride along with you, Jim!

@jaybird...the Pitts deal fell through, still looking though...either an Eagle or a Pitts. I flew an S-2 a couple months ago and fell in love with it. The videos will take some time to edit...so look for them around January.
