A one trick pony Martin B-26 vs. an incredibly adaptive and flexible B-25???
Tina Louise is 78 years old, and how's your day going?

Maryanne, not Ginger...no argument
Bailey, not Jennifer...ditto
Eartha Kitt, not Julie Newmar...ummm
Cathy Bach, not Jessica Simpson....thigh heaven

All good points! I'm actually happy to admit that each of the planes I didn't choose were arguably superior operationally to the ones I did choose. But that's like saying Ginger was a better cook than Maryanne -- so what?? :)

T33driver, I wish I had a shot of a P-39 in flight to post against your nice P-40 pic -- but I haven't seen one yet! Fingers crossed for OSH this year.

On Tina: When 78 years old you are, look as good you will not. Hmm? Hmm?

Well of COURSE the B25 is the king of medium bombers. I was thinking more of looks than actual functionality. Way to ruin a thread, man! :( :P

Let me stir the pot a bit more for you, Maryanne is 73 and was popped in Idaho, where she lives, a few years ago for smoking Left Wing LUCKY STRIKES.

Catherine Bach or Jessica Simpson. Now that a debate I would love to have to deal with.

Personally, I'd prefer Jessica Simpson AND Catherine Bach... but then, certain old habits are hard to break... 8)

I think ya'll might be able to guess which inline-engined fighter I would prefer... 81s over 87s, though.

Aesthetically speaking, some of my preferences are:

B-24 > B-17
B-26 = B-25 but both < A-20
P-39 = P-51 (Allison)
P-43 > P-47
P-35 > P-43
P-36 > P-35
P-6 > P-12
C-46 > C-47
O-52 = O-47
F4F > F6F or F4U
SBD = SB2C
TBD > TBF/M
SOC > OS2U

Props > Jets

Gotta agree with the post about the '105 over the Phantom. worked 'em both for years. F-4 was ALLWAYS "Big Ugly" or "A fistfull of ugly" :drink3:

Dean's "best looking" list:

From the WW2 era...
AAF bomber: A-26 Invader
USN bomber: PV-2 Harpoon
AAF radial-engined fighter: P-47D/N Thunderbolt w/bubble canopy
USN radial-engined fighter: F4U-4 Corsair
AAF inline-engined fighter: P-51B/C Mustang
USN inline-engined fighter: (crickets chirping, otherwise silence)

From the "jet age"...
USAF jet bomber: B-47 Stratojet
USN jet bomber: A-3 Vigilante
USAF jet fighter: F-106 Delta Dart
USN jet fighter: F-11F Tiger

And in the great "Daisy Duke" debate...
Catherine Bach, not Jessica Simpson

Beautiful aircraft! here is an Original June 1941 Original photo from Curtiss Co. archives, who kept these photos for their files of planes using Curtiss Electric Props..

Steve, you were SO close...just need to slightly alter one of your inequalities:

TBY > TBD > TBF/M

There's simply no denying the Sea Wolf...more plexi = more sexy!

If you painted that yellow you'd have a school bus.

Yea, it's no beauty queen. But it was judged to be better than the GRUMMAN TBF and over 1000 were ordered. During trials the prototype suffered an accident in simulated carrier hard landings which took over a month to repair, then it suffered a ground collision with another aircraft. VOUGHT really didn't have enough floor room to build them so Consolidated was chosen to build them but by then the TBF/TBM was in service. Except for a twist of fate and lousy timing, the skies of the Pacific could have been full of TBY's.

I think we can end this thread now. The TBY Sea Wolf is obviously the most beloved warbird within the WIX community.

Tonight's bidding will open at $200,000. Do we have $250,000 ? pop2
