Warbird Information Exchange

I am planning on taking the Harvard South this summer, across the border. I wonder if there is a document I can carry to ease the mind of the CBP agents with the radioactivity detector. I still have many original instruments with the radioactive luminescent coating on the needles.

No way! I had some work done on my aircraft there 3 years ago.

I just received a document that states that these devices are not dangerous, etc. from a Canadian agency.

Whomever you talk to make sure to document their Name, date and time of the call and a brief narrative on your discussion as it is nice to have a MFR to refresh the short memory of the govmint pukes, which most likely could result in official Denial and executive privilege .
Make hard copies of all email transactions and keep them in a binder in the plane. I wouldn't trust anyone down yonder that I did not know personally. Good luck.

And-don't offer any document, wait until it's requested, show them the original, don't let go of the original, and ask if they would like a xerox copy for their files, hold the original and a copy up side by side so it's obvious you aren't trying to pull a 'fast one'-if they get the original your chances of getting it back are somewhere South of really slim.
What's your planned P.O.E.? The more you can use a P.O.E. that's used to airshow transborder visitors the less crapola you are likely to get, in fact see if you can get a letter of invitiation to participate in the Upper Duck Water fly-in and pancake breakfast in Podunk Falls, fly in, choke down two collision mats and sky up-

should be no problem. They are really looking for enough radioactivity to make a weapon. The Harvard should be fine. You on the other hand, may be considered a threat to national security!
