No, no, and no. No VWoC Lysander either. A fantastic show in any case..the nature of warbirds means you'll always have a few no-shows for various reasons. But seeing Lancaster, B-29 and B-17 sharing the same airspace was worth the trip to a third-world socialist dystopia (tongue firmly in cheek!) Unfortunately, we arrived a bit late, just as they were "sanitizing" the hot ramp..so I couldn't get any closeups of the flying aircraft. Oh well..shoudla drug my butt out of bed earlier.

Had a great time, and got to play with my new toy (the wife authorized the purchase of a new DSLR.) I'm just learning how to use the thing. I shot about 1050 pics yesterday..here are a few of the "keepers." I'll have to sort through them more thoroughly once we get back to the States (assuming the country hasn't been foreclosed on by the Chinese.)

Thanks again to Mike for setting up the WIX get-together. :drink3: The Whistling Walrus was apparently the watering hole of choice for the show. There were also a bunch of CWH and VWoC folks there as well.

Thanks Steve, I also arrived late after the ramp had closed, that is why I wondered if they had made it. What kind of camera and lens were you using? :spit

We tried to get our Lizze down there. We were probably about 50 miles out and John announced that we'd lost air pressure. No air, no brakes so we headed back home with the hope that it was minor and we'd get it fixed and be down there on Saturday morning. No such luck, blown seal in the control valve so no quick fix.

A certain female cohabitant authorized the purchase of a shiny new Canon Eos Rebel T3 with a 55-250 lens (well, she let me put it on the Best Buy card anyway.)

Hey, as long as everybody's safe that's the important thing. No sense in risking lives or airplanes just to make a show date.


We stopped by the CWH today on our way back to Michigan. As luck would have it (well, lucky for us anyway) Fifi was still there waiting out some weather. Once the skies cleared, we went up to the observation deck and watched her shuffle off to Buffalo. Sorry about the quality of the takeoff shots..these pics are straight from the camera without any cropping or tweaking.
