What airplane did you see flying today?(airplane spotting)

Unfortunately no pictures, but Fifi with The Brat III on her right wing, flew over the house after they left Reading, enroute to Windsor Locks. Awesome...

Don't get me wrong....you could very well have seen a Martin 404, but I wonder if it actually was a Convair 240/340/440 type. I am not aware that there are any Martin 404's currently flying, but I may be wrong and wouldn't mind being wrong as I would love for there to be a flying Martin 404 out there somewhere.

Maybe someone can find out exactly what airplane this was.

Duh! Didn't think of the Convair! If it's still there when I go back to work Sunday I'll try to get a closer look.....

In the morning in between the Allegiant MadDogs and Frontier's AirBus we also had an EA-6B break up what was a normal peaceful morning. Then, later in the afternoon I saw/heard VAL HALLA as it was headed for the downwind at BLI when Dad and I were leaving his doctor's office.

Then, later in the evening one of Allegiant's 757s made an appearance!!!
They are getting to be regular visitors up here now.

Missed the Spits going either direction, they must have gone up the shoreline of Puget Sound, when did ALLEGIANT get 57's?
Of course, the EVERETT HAROLD.......er HERALD birdcage liner didn't have a word about it either.

Allegiant got 57s about a couple years ago, but then they went for a British company for a while and they finally went into service earlier this year - I thought it was only for the LAS-HNL route though

Once they start flying them later this year, that is. In the meantime- they're using the 57s on the mainland- mostly to cites that will see the flights to the Islands it would seem.

This was flying over the Wright Brothers Monument at Kill Devil Hills today. It was clearly doing a fly-by and circled for several minutes. Awhile later, a couple of Virginia National Guard Blackhawks landed on the field near the visitor's center, and one of the pilots was overheard saying to a Park Ranger that this particular plane was a "private business jet", and the ranger turned to my buddy and said "probably Blackwater." Blackwater is now "Academi" by the way. Tail number is "20202" and there is an interesting "bump" on the nose. Who can tell me more? Inspector?

At once time it was a private BBJ with a few different owners until the Air Force took it

Original operator was FORD of Europe, it and a sister 700 BBJ went through BADWRENCH 'Green' and got sort of dressed up 2 X 2 airline interiors as they were used to haul engineers and other important FORD folks around Europe when needed, not at the whim of the airlines. FORD had worn out two MD-80's on their corporate factory to factory or suppliers routes. The airplanes had additional fuel tanks installed in the cargo bays for even greater range, the tanks were done by PATS AERO and installed by BFG (each and everyone hand fit and wired/plumbed, what a friggin' P.I.T.A., no two alike, plumbing OR wiring).
FORD and FORD Europe along with everyone else fell on slack times and the airplanes were disposed of, landing with the Air National Guard (used to have a huge Guards 'Minuteman' decal in black on the verticals, but it must have made them too obvious so now they just have little guys on the APS winglets). So now they are probably used to haul Generals around. So that Ranger should move his wallet and stop clearing his throat before he speaks up. :lol:

They were among the last projects I worked on @ BADWRENCH before we parted company.

The sister ship flies for Southwest Airlines now. It flew for a while wearing Southwest titles but the Ford white and blue paint scheme.

Inspector - the ANG C-40C replaced their C-22C. The interiors are psuedo-airline (possibly still the same one it had with Ford) and used to move around units and occasionally more "important" passengers. They also used the C-22C as the media plane occasionally to follow Air Force One around when no suitable charter was available. My understanding is that on those flights the media pool member companies paid for the operation.

BTW, the "bump" on the nose is for the Honeywell "Smart View" Synthetic Vision/FLIR system.

AMERICA WEST (remember when 'cactus' WAS cactus?) used to operate N 708AW (737-100) which was the first private 737 as the original customer was ESSEX WIRE, and it still had all these odd little pieces of seat track scattered around the cabin including some that ran side to side.

CAPFLYER, that scheme was the FORD scheme.

I also just noticed that the pic I linked is of 20201, the picture above is of 20202, the second C-40C. There are now 6 C-40C's in the ANG/USAFR inventory (3 each).

I'd missed seeing the B-29 the past three days, but was able to get out there fairly early today to take a gander before she left. As I was going through my shots over the last little bit, I heard the CWH B-25 and Lancaster come in on the KBUF ATC feed, and hoped that they might pass over my house, but they never did. I also heard a P-51 on the feed, (presumably 'Brat III' which is traveling on the same tour) and then I heard it outside the window... didn't make it downstairs quick enough to get a shot though...
