You are invited to the March meeting of IPMS Atlanta on Wednesday March 21st at 7:00 pm. The guest speaker will be Robert "Punchy" Powell who flew P-51 Mustangs and P-47 Thunderbolts with the 352nd Fighter group from November 1943 to August 1944. The 352nd included Aces Major George Preddy and Col. John C. Meyer. Punchy flew 89 missions in the ETO with 5 aircraft destroyed, 2 probables and 5 damaged. After leaving the ETO he was assigned to Fighter Testing at Wright Field.
There will be a limited number of Punchy's book "Bluenoser Tales" available for sale and signing. $30.00 per copy, a discount from the regular $40-50 price.
IPMS Atlanta is a chapter of the International Plastic Modeler's Society, a group of Model Builders and Aviation Historians. The meeting is held every 3rd Wednesday of the month at the Epps Aviation training classrooms at Peachtree Dekalb Airport. Parking is in the Administration building parking lot. Other guest speakers for 2012 include a Georgia ANG Pilot who flew F-100's, F-105G Wild Weasels, F-4's and F-15's. We also will have a F-22 Test pilot speak later in the summer. Ya'll come. It should be a good time. -Robert
