T6-C Ajo AAF

Brain,

I purchased a copy of the original accident report about my uncle's fatal crash, Dec. 5, 1943 while flying to my Dad's Class of 43K graduation at Moore AAF. The flight originated at Ajo AAF in Ajo AZ. The pilot was 1st Lt James Martin, my uncle was in the rear seat, 2nd Lt Norman Dennison. The report concluded that they were attempting an off field landing in bad weather, stalled and impacted the ground at a sever angle, killing them both and destroying the aircraft.

The T6-C 41-33028 was based at Ajo. Might anyone have a photo of Ajo AAF in 1943? I'd like to see the paint scheme and perhaps get a model of it made.

Thanks to all.

Are you looking for a photo of Ajo or the AT-6C airplanes based at Ajo?

You might want to check the books by Lou Thole concerning the airfield photo.

Look for a guy named Chris McDoniel, he might have photos of AT-6 airplanes at Ajo during WWII.

He has a website that focuses on Arizona Training Fields during WWII.

Aircraft photos, perhaps from a graduating class book or the like.
