No disrespect for USS Laffey. But sometime
Google <USS EVANS> & <USS HADLEY>. It
will make your hair stand up......

Based on the pictures, they put Laffey where the Clamagore has been sitting for a good number of years.

Which begs the question: where did they put the Clamagore? My family vacations in Charleston every other/third year, so I've been seeing that sub slowly disintegrating. When I was there Summer before last I felt a strange craving for a tetanus shot after touring her. I wasn't even sure that they could move her; a friend who lives in the area told me that she sits firmly on the bottom except at high tide, and given the level of deterioration Patriots Point would eventually have to either allow her to be taken out and sink-ex'd, or figure out a way to dry-berth her.

The website http://www.patriotspoint.org says:

"The USS CLAMAGORE will be closed for maintenance on January 18, 2012 and not open to the general public until further notice."
