Haunting music video - anyone know which airfield?

Sat Jan 14, 2012 6:41 am

I found this video quite haunting and sad. Anyone know the airfield where it was filmed?

There's also a slower version with the same video for anyone interested....

Shame you don't see stuff like this on MTV from time to time. Might make the latest generations stop and think for a minute.....

Cheers

The airfield is West Malling in Kent. I thought it was and soon got confirmation over on the Airfield Information Exchange forum. It was a very famous RAF Fighter Command base although it was mainly kept in reseve during the Battle of Britain. The only American involvement was in the late 1950s/early 60s when US Navy FASRON 200 had a detachment here with R4D-8s and UC-45Js.

Thanks for the info Dave, you're a star.....that's been bugging me for ages. Must pay it a visit some time. Hope it isn't a bl***y housing estate now.

WIX is an amazing resource, so much knowledge out there.

Cheers

Proof that just because you have access to a microphone doesn't mean you should use it, about as haunting as 'Sister Scissors' take on the Floyds 'Comfortably Numb'.

There's always one that can't resist getting the boot in.

If you read my post I'm saying the VIDEO is haunting, which I think it is....a woman with a young son who lost her pilot husband to the war. Derelict airfield with period flashbacks - got all the ingredients for a thought provoking video in my book. Anyhow, each to their own I suppose.

Yeah, there was a great hue and cry when the decision was announced many years ago. It used to be the site of a great annual airshow and the preservationists and veterans were outraged by the thought of 'cookie-cutter' housing on such an historically important location. All to no avail of course, capitalism triumphed.

Bah.

Dan K, was I pretty close to the mark? And they had to rip off the movie too, I feel the need to go get a few marching hammers tattooed on my bicep, maybe shave an eyebrow or three-
