Should I purchase one

Fri Dec 16, 2011 10:31 pm

A local business is closing. Several [about10] RC aircraft that have been on display are for sale. Not being very informed though some of you might be able to assist. The asking price is around $400 on most of them. Several fighters, and a transport or 2. The wing spans are in the 4-5' range and all are gas, controls included. Other than years of dust they look in decent condition. Is the asking price fare? Thanks

To me, "Years of dust" translates to old radios, if they have the radios at all.

Unless there is something that knocks your socks off, I would pass on this.

Also, if you're unsure of the value, does that indicate that this would be your first venture into R/C? If so, there are excellent electric trainers out there that cost well under $200 and would be much easier to deal with for a new flyer. Why? They always start, unlike sometimes fiddlesome gas engines. They don't bother the neighbors. Some of them can be flown in relatively small spaces.

Thanks for the reply.

It would be my first adventure into RC planes. The radios would be old. From the dust, I suspect the models have been hanging for at least 5 years may be 10. They would be hard to fly, one is multiple engined. The more I look into it $400 is about what they are worth, so not a bargain. Thought they would look good hanging in the garage. Going to pass on them.

Before you pass on them, make the owner a cash offer and then go from there! :drink3:
